I have been having a quite a bit of fun lately. By fun, I mean coding fun. I’m actually (finally) enjoying learning the whole programming thing now and it’s become a little less frustrating.
As I mentioned in my previous post that I’m intending to take up a 12-week course in January, I thought I would prepare for the course by learning the basics on my own.
I’m on Ruby on Rails tutorial (the online version is free!) for a few days now and I’m not yet past the ‘Prerequisites’ section. I’ve only completed the following so far:
And although it’s only 2 chapters, I’ve learned a lot. I now know a little bit of VIM, Atom and Sublime Text; all of which I knew nothing about just a few days ago. Needless to say, I’m also better at Terminal now.
I’d highly recommend going to those links to get started for people who are new to software development like myself. The materials are so easy to understand and follow. Of course, like everything else, it’s important to use technical sophistication to solve any problems you run into on your system. Google; or ask someone.
I’m so eager to go into the remaining chapters so I can finally get started on Ruby on Rails tutorial!
